IPod App 3DVIA Mobile For SolidWorks models

3DVIA Mobile is an IPod App that allows you to place SolidWorks models and 3DVIA models on your IPhone.

1. Go to www.3DVIA.com/mobile to download the App. Currently, 3DVIA Mobile is a free App.
2. Install the 3DVIA Mobile App on your IPhone.
3. Select the 3DVIA App and select a model to view, pan and rotate. You can search for Robots. I created the model "Tetrix" with help from our partner Pitsco. Then I took a photo with my phone and Tetrix is spinning in my IPod window.
4. To publish your SolidWorks robot assembly, select File, Publish to 3DVIA (you need SolidWorks 2009 Education Edition or Student Edition)
5. Upload your SolidWorks model to www.3DVIA.com. You will have to create an account. Enter tags such as Robot, FRC, Vex, Your Name
6. From your IPhone, select the 3DVIA Mobile App and search for your robot.
7. To see this process in action Jon Hirschtick (SolidWorks Founder)describes the 3DVIA technology with reference to his MIT poker playing days, if you read the book "21" or saw the movie you will understand the humor http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qb87FodutzE

3DVIA is 3D modeling in an entirely different fun world. You can also download "3DVIA Shape" for free. Marie Planchard

Re: IPod App 3DVIA Mobile For SolidWorks models

This would be a sweet way to show off mechanisms to judges at competitions. Though it may be small, the innovative (and awesome) factor of having the models on an iPhone might make up for that with the judges.

Re: IPod App 3DVIA Mobile For SolidWorks models

The technology is such that you want to keep the model small.
Place all fasteners in a folder and suppress them.
