Re: Marketing video for Team 706 Lunacy Bot

I just watched your video, and I have some comments for you.

First, the quality is outsanding. Youtube is bloated with grainy/cellphone quality videos, and this is a nice change.

Where's the beef?????

Right now your footage is entirely your robot. The robot is a nice "attention getter", but for someone riddled with ADHD like myself, it gets old. I think that if you want to get people interested (especially sponsors) you need footage of students actually WORKING on the robot with a narrator explaining what they are doing (and what they are learning). Explain what your team, and FIRST, is all about.

Towards the end, you always want to leave your audience wanting more. You've got a nice concept of how to do that, but I think that you need to develop it more. For example, you could divide the video into sections with each one opening up with a question like "got _________ ?" and then go on to talk about " ____________ " (ie, programming, competition, etc).

Hope that helps.

i like yours, but i agree, there should be more student action, this is ours from 2008:

it even keeps teh attention of our principle (who, just like most schools, never really cared about the team, but we changed that!)

Re: Marketing video for Team 706 Lunacy Bot

I honestly found the music choice to be a little off-putting. I also agree that a little more of the human element of FIRST should be included. Otherwise a great video, good quality, and a really nice looking robot.

Re: Marketing video for Team 706 Lunacy Bot

Looks good. Shows off your robot's strengths nicely and is well edited.

If you need suggestions for more robot footage to add, I'd show footage of the robot moving laterally with your crab drive (perhaps swerving across a school gym). Shots of crab movement are pretty cool and get attention. Perhaps the robot moving while hitting a stationary target would be cool as well. Other than that, it's a well done and complete video. Impressive machine.

(guys, i think this is supposed to be a video highlighting their robot, not the entire presentation to mentors)

Re: Marketing video for Team 706 Lunacy Bot

nice video, but i would have liked to have seen some in game footage against other robots, and as everyone else pointed out, some construction shots, and some more people shots, and the main beat of the song might be a bit bothersome for some people but as a videographer myself, i like the video overall

Re: Marketing video for Team 706 Lunacy Bot

thanks for the suggestions guys

this video was meant to show off this particular robot and it's features. normally this would go along with a presentation with a couple students as well as videos of other robots.

but, now that you mention it, we should make a video showing the build phase. we don't have any video from building this robot, but that will be something we do for sure this build season
