I do plan on exploring the possibility of DTFM.

However, I'm curious what you see as viable options for a beacon system.
Here were my limitations:
simple and inexpensive hardware
must not eat up processor time
every robot must be able to transmit their team number at least twice a second
must not be prone to collisions
