I've never seen or heard of the alliance captain hats before. If they're just regular baseball hats without special designs for each year, I don't think that there's too much to interpret with that, other than the possible clue about changing alliances. He might just be telling us that they'll once again be dropping hints during the broadcast, and we could pick something up from the hints.

I do hope they switch up the alliances this year. I think having 2v2v2 would be fun. I think it would enable the teams to have more strategy planned out, and perhaps even some sidings, like red and green up against blue. It would certainly be more interesting that way.

Is Chief Delphi still going to be available? I remember last year and it was painfully slow during and after the opening ceremonies.
I also think they set a record for most online users at one time.

There are two sites that will be slow: Chief Delphi and the FIRST website. This is why it is in your best interest to get the encrypted manuals now, to avoid the rush.

At least we aren't crashing other websites like we were during hint season last year.

Now there is a chance that I just missed it because I did not sit through the entire kickoff from last year, BUT, Bill Miller is Introduced as a member of the GDC, and he is NOT wearing a hat of any kind. He also also on screen when they pull the curtain away to reveal the playing field, Again, no HAT!

So either he thinks he was wearing a hat, he was and I just missed it, or he makes a tiny fib just to mention the Alliance Captian Hat... No idea if it's important or not, it will probably make sense at about 11:30 on Saturday....

I would not be surprised by 2 v 2 v 2 alliances.

EDIT: Can anyone who was at the Official New Hampshire Kickoff confirm he was wearing the hat?
That's probably what he meant.
