Thank You For The 2010 Kick-Off

To all who helped organize the FRC Kick-Off and prepare for it, thank you.
To the GDC who designed the game challenge and devoted countless hours to all of the different aspects and considerations involved in it, thank you.
To NASA for providing the broadcast/webcast, thank you.

When I asked a 1st year student on a 2nd year team if she had listened to all of the speeches today, she smiled and her eyes twinkled. She had listened well to Dean Kamen, Woodie Flowers, and Dave Lavery. She and and one of her fellow (rookie) teammates, "want to be Supernerds who enjoy the journey, not just the destination." Their words, not mine.

I would also like to thank Freescale Semiconductors, Inc., for hosting a first-ever FRC Kick-Off in Austin. It was a well-planned event, run professionally and smoothly. The feeling of attending a Kick-Off in our own hometown was something that I won't forget anytime soon. It was very special. Thank you so much!

Jane

Re: Thank You For The 2010 Kick-Off

Thank you to NASA, the GDC, and the numerous volunteers at FIRST for making this entire event possible. I think everyone at our local event enjoyed the broadcast, especially the part about humans understanding the scoring.

A huge thank-you to Team 1270 and the folks at Tri-C's Youth Technology Academy for hosting our local event. Even with the few technological issues we've experienced, you guys and gals made sure that we had a good time.

Yes! Thank you! What a great show!

Although we all wish the game revealing would be about an hour earlier, the agenda made the waiting and anticipation worthwhile and enjoyable.

I liked the variety of formats which kept things moving and interesting, and the keynote speakers gave us much food for thought. The video of the GDC in action was a superb touch giving us all that insiders view to the people and the process.

Our kickoff in Rochester, NY was held in a new location, the Kodak Theatre on the Ridge. It was lovely to have all the teams in one auditorium! Thanks to Kodak and to the FIRSTRochester planning committee! And finally, we were all thrilled to have Ron from our local double Chairman's award winning X-Cats as one of the interviewees! He kept that secret even from his team!

What a wonderful morning! And now the hard work for the rest of us has begun!

I loved that video. A lot. For the same reasons...and it also meant that we got to see a bit of the game about two minutes earlier, and it was totally unexpected (I had to muffle myself to keep from screaming "OMG OMG OMG" at a volume where the folks in Alaska could probably hear it).

Thank you so much to everyone who was a part of the event that brings so much joy and excitement to the thousands of kids, mentors, and sponsors around the globe: Dean, Woodie, Dave, the GDC, NASA, the speakers, governors, volunteers, and those who hosted the local kickoff events. Thank you to the teams, sponsors, speakers, field assemblers, and technical operators who helped set up and run the local kickoffs. Thank you especially to 503 (Frog Force, from Novi, MI) for bringing the idea of local kickoffs to the table several years ago. From my understanding, if it hadn't been for them, we would probably all still be sending 2 reps to Manchester (I could be wrong).
