Home Depot Funds for teams
Home depot has a program that awards $ 25.00 gift certificates to volunteer and non-profit groups. Team 1998 received 4 coupons today. All you need to do is give the store a letter, with the schools letter head and non-profit tax #, asking for funds and/or material. We received the coupons when we submitted the letter. Hurry the program is nation wide, but ends on 31 Jan. 2009

Re: Home Depot Funds for teams
I'm glad you had luck.
I went into 4 Home Depots 2 years ago and tried to talk to a manager. I was, quite literally, shown the door at all 4 of the stores and told that they have national programs but will not support local causes. After that, I simply stopped going to Home Depot for any of my business. Any company that doesn't want to support the local economy isn't worth frequenting. Perhaps I'll give them another shot though, and pay them a visit. |

Re: Home Depot Funds for teams
We have always been successful negotiating at least a discount with our local Home Depot through the store manager. We don’t buy a huge amount there but usually just the materials for the practice field. We usually get our stuff in our carts and when ready to check out we ask to speak to the manager and nicely explain that we are the local high school robotics team and are needing build supplies for the practice field or whatever and ask if they could help us out with at least an educational discount. Depending on the manager on duty at the time and the amount of stuff we have piled on the cart(s) we have usually been successful at negotiating between a 10% and 25% discount. We then list Home Depot as a sponsor at least on our shirts. We have similar arrangements with other local businesses as I have always assumed most teams do.
I do believe that if I was to ask a store manager to help out a local school project and was shown the door I would also never shop at Home Depot again either. Fortunately, our experience with support from our local Home Depot has usually been very positive. We are making a run Home Depot run first thing tomorrow evening for more practice field materials. I’ll just have to look into this coupon thing. Thanks for the heads up! |

Re: Home Depot Funds for teams
Is there a link somewhere with more information about the program? I know my team would love to take advantage of this offer. I looked on their website but was unable to find anything.

Re: Home Depot Funds for teams
We tried this last year with 4 Home Depots, and received one $25 card. While I appreciate the donation, in all honesty it was not worth my time, gas, and printed materials.
