cRIO (FRC_2010_v10 -or- FRC_2010_v5)?

I posted an answer on another thread about my issue but wanted to start a clean thread in case anyone else had/has the experience we've had tonight.

Long story short - I believe the cRIO image from the Classmate (DS) update has the FRC_2010_v5.zip image (READ: OLDER), and that the LabVIEW/Laptop update has the FRC_2010_v10.zip (READ: NEWER & Correct).

Question 1: After you updated your classmate, did you use it to image your cRIO successfully and then successfully run through Control Manual #2 steps 4-9? If you did, I was wondering if you could run your imaging tool on your classmate and post the version number of the image that shows. Our is FRC_2010_v5.zip but I belive that's the wrong one.

Question 2: If you have a laptop that you use for programming, could you run your imaging tool and list the version number of the cRIO package? Our version on the laptop is FRC_2010_v10.zip.

Laptop update came from here: http://joule.ni.com/nidu/cds/view/p/lang/en/id/1534

Classmate update came from here: http://joule.ni.com/nidu/cds/view/p/lang/en/id/1535

If you all come back and say you have the FRC_2010_v10.zip on your classmate, then I may want to reimage and start over... which will bring me to a different question in another thread! :-)

Thanks fro the reply. Okay... that's not the answer I was expecting. Do you know how you acquired that version? Last year, this stuff bit us bad and I thought I had learned to be vigilant to check the US FIRST control manual section. I have no idea how we jumped to FRC_2010_v19.zip already.

Re: cRIO (FRC_2010_v10 -or- FRC_2010_v5)?

I honestly don't know. I uninstalled the old software completely (just because I felt like it), installed the 2010 version, and updated all the updates I could find on the FRC Control System page.

Yes, I think uninstalling and resintalling is a good idea. That was what fixed the DSUpdate for us.

the v19 image is on a mandatory labview/driverstation update. it is on the wpi site. and then you need to download a necessary .dll file that is missing from the update

Re: cRIO (FRC_2010_v10 -or- FRC_2010_v5)?

Last night, i attempted to image the cRio, and the image my personal laptop came up with was v10.

After installing the madatory labview update it showed up as v19.

You need to get the

"Mandatory Driver Station Update/Driver Station Installer (for use on any PC) - posted 09 Jan 2010"

and the

"Mandatory LabVIEW Update - posted 09 Jan 2010"

I believe the v19 came with the Labview Update.

Hope that helps

(You will need these updates anyways, and they are both 100+mb so you may want to start downloading soon!)

Re: cRIO (FRC_2010_v10 -or- FRC_2010_v5)?

To hopefully clear up confusion here -

The DS update will update only the Driver Station software (the application that acts as the Driver Station). It will not do anything to directly change the cRIO image version.

If you want to image your cRIO from your Classmate, you need to apply the LabVIEW update to the classmate, then image.

Same thing from any development computer, even if you are only using Java or C++/Windriver, you need to apply the LV update to get the newest cRIO image tool and newest cRIO image.

At this moment in time, the current image version is v19.
