how many analog breakouts do we actually need?

Unfortunately, we have burned out both of our analog bumpers from last year (due to unforeseen circumstances). We were wondering if we actually needed two analog bumpers. We still have the one they gave us this year, will this be sufficient?

please halp

Re: how many analog breakouts do we actually need?

That probably depends on what your robot does, and how it does it. If you only need one bumper's worth of interface, then only use one bumper. We only used one last year.

Re: how many analog breakouts do we actually need?

One analog breakout is required for battery monitoring. The second (breakout AND module) is optional, only required if you need the additional analog inputs.

Re: how many analog breakouts do we actually need?

One analog bumper is probably enough for MOST teams. Even more so, now we can use the analog ports on the Jaguars.

Re: how many analog breakouts do we actually need?

We used two last year, but then we're input greedy...

How many analog sensors did you have on your robot last year?
Were you using both boards at once or burn them out one-at-a-time?
That's probably your best indicator of how many you'll need this year.

Re: how many analog breakouts do we actually need?

It all depends on how many analog sensors you need to get inputs from. But you definitely need one for the battery reading

Re: how many analog breakouts do we actually need?

I would like to recommend that you ensure you have one or two extras in case you go through another one.

As others have said, one is required for battery voltage, but if you went through two last year, then you should ensure you have enough extras this year that you are covered in case one (or more) breaks.
