Set computer to receive it's IP via DHCP?

On page 45.... in Section 1... of the Control System Manual it says, "set your computer to receive it's IP via DHCP". How do we do this?

Re: Set computer to receive it's IP via DHCP?

The DHCP settings are reached by going into your Network Connections -> Local Area Network Connection (right click)-> Properties -> TCP/IP

I hope this helps. This is also where you will set the static IP.

Re: Set computer to receive it's IP via DHCP?

OK- We have been there and set our static IP to 10.21.47.6 (our team # is 2147). Is their something we have to select to set the DHCP? I don't see anything referring to a DHCP in any of these screens?

Re: Set computer to receive it's IP via DHCP?

Set it to obtain IP address automatically. DHCP is the protocol by which it does that.

Re: Set computer to receive it's IP via DHCP?

I have some trouble with that too..
I set the ip to get automatically and then open internet explorer and type in 192.168.1.250 as described in the manual.
Yet I cannot connect to the bridge...
Here is how the wires run
The cisco modem(wrt610n) is connected to the computer through ethernet cable. Then the ethernet cable from the linksys modem(wga600n) is connected to the cisco modem.
I don't know what the probem is so can anyone help?
Thank you for any kind of help.

Re: Set computer to receive it's IP via DHCP?

I belive you need to connect to the bridge wirelessly to be able to use it. 2 DHCP servers wired directly together is not the best idea in the world

Try resetting the bridge to its factory settings by pressing the reset button for 20 seconds. I also unplugged and replugged the bridge to be sure it was reset.

Also, the 2 ethernet cables into the bridge have to be plugged into the "1,2,3, or 4" Ethernet jacks, not the jack labeled "Internet".

Re: Set computer to receive it's IP via DHCP?

I tried it it but still it does not work..
In the manual is says type 192.2689.1.250 and we tried it but id did not work..
Realizing that that it may be a defaut setting we connected the brigde(wga600) directly to the computer and ran ipconfig on command propt, got the ip and default gateway, ran them on a web browser but it still did not work.. we cannot connect to the bridge...
Any suggestions???

Re: Set computer to receive it's IP via DHCP?

Try connecting your PC directly to the WGA600N via Ethernet cable.
Set a static IP on your PC of 192.168.1.6, netmask 255.0.0.0
Then try browsing to 192.168.1.250

Did you disable your PC wireless if you have it?

Re: Set computer to receive it's IP via DHCP?

Im having trouble with browsing the bridge. We got into the configuration page and did all the steps like rebooting but now when we try to get to the configuration page again, it says connection was reset. What do we do.

Re: Set computer to receive it's IP via DHCP?

Did you change the bridge IP address when you rebooted it?

Did you then change your PC's IP address to be compatible with the new bridge IP address before you tried to reconnect?

That's the most common snag.

I presume you are hard-cabled from the PC to the bridge while doing this, or are you going through the router too?
