I am really interested to see how it gets so much topspin, that seems to really carry it down quickly to minimize tim in the air where it may hit a bump and maximize the chances of it rolling over a bump or up a ramp.

Oh, there's most definitely a kicker there. Look at the link eeeweeezeee posted, and you can see the mechanism.
