I doubt it
I have a feeling that IF they don't get filled, they just won't get filled. I'd tend to agree that if they open to the 300+ odd numbered teams, for 4 spots? It'd get kinda brutal.
But then again, at Nats...what if the 4 odd numbered teams feel excluded. We'd be numerically prejudiced, evens in the majority. We'd be susceptable to prejudicial "numerism" where we see the odd teams as inferrior. Then, in another year, the tables would turn. There would be enormous rivalries between odds and evens, formerly brothers and sisters. The entire competition could become polarized. A robotics civil war could break out, and it'd be all because those 4 teams were allowed to register... Yes, I know, I need sleep. No more talking, or you're all off the team.
