CRIO is CrAzY
Our crio is going crazy... for some reason our "Safe Mode" dip switch is inverted. When we set it to "off" the crio imaging tool says that safe mode is "on". Also we will get absolutely no communication with the robot unless we physically press the reset button on our crio.
My question is will a robot inspector see this at competition and want us to turn safe mode off (or in our case ON)? Last edited by FRC1612 : 19-01-2010 at 17:59. |

Re: CRIO is CrAzY
I assume you've called NI and reported the problem?

Ours appears to be identical. I don't know if it's a problem, or if the picture in the manual is incorrect?

Re: CRIO is CrAzY
Is it possible that the dip works, but that the pressed state isn't clear? Press on the side that you want to transition to.

Re: CRIO is CrAzY
Currently we have not contacted NI. As we figured well it still works its not broken just a little confused if it wants to be safe.
As for the dip switch we are fine as long as there is no rule stating the crio safe mode having to be in the "OFF" position. But for having to physically press the reset button on the controller now thats a problem for NI. Will contact NI and post a reply for all those with similar issues. Just glad we aren't the only ones with this issue. |

Re: CRIO is CrAzY
Yes, the DIP switch is simply unclear. It works in the counter-intuitive state.

As for the dip switch, I was able to look at one today, and with normal usage, all dip switches should be pressed down/in on the left side. If using a serial cable, the console out needs to be turned on. Greg McKaskle |

Yeah for having to reset I mean: That when we first boot up our crio the classmate and robot cannot communicate with each other. The only way to solve the communication error is to press and hold the reset button on the crio. It's strange... Doesn't seem normal. |
