Failure to connect to RcIO

We are trying to get this robot running properly and we get the program up and running and what not then when we click the run arrow, a message pops up with it saying failure to connect to the RcIO. Any tips on how to correct it or anything. Do we also have to set up our own IP address for our wireless router to connect with the classmate and the robot?

Re: Failure to connect to RcIO

It would be helpful to have a little bit more information provided about where you are in the setup process.

Are you using the Classmate Developer account as the computer running Labview?

Have you updated the Driver's Station on the Classmate, Labview on whatever computer is running it, and reimaged the cRIO to v19?

Have you performed the Benchtop test as described in Section 2 of the Control System Manual? Note that it is recommended to both flash the cRIO and run the first test using a tether and not a wireless connection. The manual suggests using a crossover cable, but a standard ethernet cable should work for most modern computers including the Classmate.

Re: Failure to connect to RcIO

We are logged in under the developer in the classmate computer. We have tried to reimage the cRIO using the tool on the developer account and it cant locate the cRIO. We have power to it and everything

Re: Failure to connect to RcIO

Are you connecting to it with an ethernet cable or through wireless?

Cool Re: Failure to connect to RcIO

I went through this exercise yesterday for FRC Team 1, Juggernauts, so let's review a couple of points from my memory.
1) Not all imformation to do cRIO setup seems to appear in one electronic document, so you may want to look through written material to familiarize yourself with a step you may have missed/overlooked.
2) You must setup the cRIO. You must also setup your laptop/classmate PC to talk to the cRIO with the right IP address (for us 10.00.01.06). Then
you must obtain the cRIO image file that ends in ****19.zip for this year's competition. This set's up the cRIO for the FRC 2010 year.
3) I used the pink ethernet cable in the KOP (crossover cable - was labeled red in instructions) to image the cRIO from my laptop.
4) I loaded my laptop with the FRC Labview program. I then upgraded with the software from USfirst website. I setup the IP address manually for my laptop to talk to cRIO. I then downloaded (deployed) the base FRC robot
main vi per instructions.
5) It took me 2 times to image the cRIO. First time it didn't work for who knows what reason. Tried again and it worked.

I may not have remembered everything but hopefully this helps you along your path. Best Wishes

Re: Failure to connect to RcIO

I had this problem befor if you have ane old code in the cRio
I fix this by :

install an upgraded cRIO image, follow theinstructions below:
1. Start the cRIO Imaging tool by clicking on “Start
-> All Programs -> National Instruments -> LabVIEW 8.6 -> FRC cRIO Imaging Tool” in the Windows Start Menu.
If a dialog window appears with the message “No CompactRIO devices were found. Verify the network connection,” there was aA “Reconfiguring Device” window should
appear showing current status of the imaging procedure. The text window will sequence through the following messages:
a. Extracting CompactRIO Image…
b. Connecting to CompactRIO device…
c. Formatting CompactRIO device…
d. Assigning IP address…
e. Updating CompactRIO Image…
f. Configuring secondary Ethernet port…

**. The imaging process should complete
