question about what we can use
can we use a fishing reel on our robot to pull back somthing for a shooter ?

We prototyped it, and failed. The reel we got had a clutch that couldn't tighten down hard enough. It slipped. If you don't want to kick too far, and your willing to get a good reel you may have better luck, but remember the force you will need to release the casting mechanism. The reel is designed to disengage with little force pulling on the line.

It's legal alright, but nowhere near strong enough. There are better ways, say pneumatics.

i would suggest a CIM (or any other motor) winch, fishing reels are made so that they use a friction device, similar to car brakes, so that it's a lot harder to snap the line, so it WILL slip, as it is made too
