3ds Max Animation: Help!

Hey, our team got the 2010 3ds Max Animation software loaded properly, but for some reason we can't open and run the program. The computers have enough memory and everything but they still won't run it. Are there any other reasons why the program might not be running?

Re: 3ds Max Animation: Help!

There is a semi-recent patch for 3ds Max, you might check around for that (I don't know where it is, though)

I might still have the installer for the patch...

Yep! Still there. If you want to PM me with your e-mail, I will e-mail it to you, it's 18 MB.

Re: 3ds Max Animation: Help!

Hello my name is Shay from Israle team miscar 1574...
I was working on the 3Ds max and I was wondering if you could help me figure out how to import an autodesk inventor file into the 3Ds max 2010.

Many Thanks

Re: 3ds Max Animation: Help!

Export it from inventor as any of the formats that 3ds imports.. DXF, obj, IGES, (I don't have either with me here to check). You may find that it is a very heavy model (in polygon count). Every detail you put in Inventor will export. threads on screws, every washer, etc. I tried it once and it brought 3ds max to a crawl.

Re: 3ds Max Animation: Help!

Hey guys, I do this at work sometimes and from what I've seen there isnt a great way to do this. There are ways to import the models but because you are switching from NURBS to polys you may end up with scenes that have 300,000+ counts and it can easily crash the computer. These are also not connected correctly as sub objects all the time and are generally wonky.
You are likely importing it correctly. I unfortunately encourage you to moel as much as you can in 3d max and import smaller assemblies so not to crash your computer.
Good luck.
