ofekbs is an unknown quantity at this point
encoders quantity limit

Hey, I have a question that I hope any of you can help me with:
Is there a quantity limit for encoders on the robot (limited number of encoders that one is allowed to use on the robot)?
Or is there ANY quantity limit for any type of sensor?

Thanks a head!

Re: encoders quantity limit

How many sensors can you fit in the rest of your allowed $3500 USD budget? Other than having each of them under $400 USD, and all of them under the aforementioned budget limit, there are no limits.

Well, I suppose it would be hard to get 100 encoders attached to the cRIO's sidecars, but that's what pre-processors are for, isn't it?

Re: encoders quantity limit

I think the KoP limit is 12 encoders wired directly into digital side cars plus one encoder for each CAN enabled Jaguar. With custom circuitry, there is no hard limit that I care to guess at.

Re: encoders quantity limit

So the answer is that there is no real limit to the number of sensors on your robot, but there are some practical limitations (like weight, cost, I/O ports, etc.)
