You are missing one of the gears, so you obviously don't plan on using the shifting half. But why do that is the question...

EDIT: I just noticed that the other gear has been switched to something else as well. I'm going to go with Adam Bochek, an anti back-drive mechanism. Which would be great for hanging...

The McMaster ones run a little pricey. We bought 3 sets of the 3" ratchets and pawls for each. Its about 50 per ratchet and 40 or so per pawl.
