Joystick Communication Problem
So, we're a first-year team. Probably running miles and miles behind schedule. Right now, we're trying just to be able to run one of the example programs. Specifically, we're trying to run the joystick input example.
We're pretty sure we've got things hooked up correctly, and we can successfully deploy the program to the cRIO (we think). The problem is, no matter what USB input it's set to take, it won't recognize the joysticks, even though the driver station will. Any suggestions about what's wrong? |

Re: Joystick Communication Problem
Are there any red status lights on the Driver Station Diagnostic tab?
Did you Enable the robot? What is the Robot Status LED doing (on the Digital Sidecar to the right of the wago power connector) ? |

Re: Joystick Communication Problem
Our situation is really inconsistent. At the moment, the light is slowly blinking. There's a red light for "Robot Code", and that prevents us from enabling the robot.
We're currently connecting to the cRIO directly with a crossover cable (we are having a billion communications problems. We haven't even been able to start programming because we're trying to figure them out). |

Re: Joystick Communication Problem
You can't use a Crossover cable from Laptop to CRio. Use a standard Ethernet Cable and it should at least fix communication problems

Re: Joystick Communication Problem
If the communication light is on then your cable is fine and I think it's just how you are running the code and the Driver Station.
The Robot Code light is because of the way you are trying to run the LabVIEW project. First, Exit the Driver account (from the Driver Station you do that by going to the Setup tab -> Exit). Login to the Developer account and start the FRC Driver Station from there. Look under Windows Start -> All Programs -> FRC Driver Station. If you are using the default Robot Project, then from the LabVIEW project Explorer window go to the very bottom of the file list and you'll see "Build Specifications."
