We used the sensors from the 2003/2004 kit for many years after.

As ,4lex S. said, you should check out the LEGO sensors. They have a new color sensor that is illegal for FLL, but it might work great for FRC. Also, the sensors tend to be really robust--try giving the gyro (from the KoP) to an eight-year-old, and see what happens.

Banner I remember now... yes they were great sensors..
Thanks for the ideas about using the lego sensors but they are not as robust and don't project the light as far...

We need something we can tuck up inside of the robot..

QS18VN6D was the sensor that was in the KOP years ago.
It is infared, and diffuse.

QS18VN6LV is a visible light sensor with a nice tight beam
that we have used several times. We will likely be using
a couple of these this year.

One of the 2003 or 2004 KOPs included a visible light Banner brand sensor. Not sure of model numbers or anything, but it was a red wavelength light.
