bailey.berro is an unknown quantity at this point
"out of the box"

in rule <R92>, FRC refers to an "out of the box" condition, yet they fail to define it. Any ideas EXACTLY what can and cant be done to cylinders?

Re: "out of the box"

<R73> is very explicit as to what is allowed.
• Assembling and connecting pneumatic components using the pre-existing threads, mounting brackets, quick-connect fittings, etc.
• Removing the mounting pin from a pneumatic cylinder, provided the cylinder itself is not modified.
• Labeling applied to indicate device purpose, connectivity, functional performance, etc.

Anything not detailed above is not allowed.

Re: "out of the box"

I believe you mean <R72> if you are talking about pnuematics like it seems. In this case "of the shelf" as the printed copy of the rules I have with states means that I can goi to a distrubutor and buy the part. The only thing you can do is to a pneumatic cylinder is knock out the clevis pin. Anyother modifications will be failed at inspection.

Where does it say you can do this?

I thought all pneumatics were "sacred"

This has always been allowed so that you can use bolts or longer clevices to make your cylinder attachments easier.

Or to save weight by eliminating this tiny little piece of steel...
