Using WPIlib with Acroname R117 Compass?

Hi,
I don't think we received a gyro with our FRC 2010 kit, but we did receive an Acroname R117 compass. Unfortunately, there is no method in the WPIlib to access the R117 compass. We're trying to get the Hitech Compass class to read the R117 compass, but it's not working.

The first problem was that the Hitech Compass routine has a verify manufacturer routine. Then we tried hacking out the verify manufacturer routine, but still we couldn't get data from the R117.

Finally, we found an NXT Hitech compass from our FTC kit and he we hooked that up. Still, the HitechCompass class gave us a invalid manufacturer.

Anybody have any idea how we could rectify the situation?

The first thing I suggest is that you review the Sensor Manual.

How did you determine you received an R117 in the KOP?

The HiTechnic compass should work out of the box. If it isn't working please post details of how you connected and programed the compass.

If you still have questions, please post again.

Keep in mind that the gyro is attached to the same (large-ish, blue) circuit board as the accelerometer this year. It can be snapped off however.

You were right. We did not receive the Acroname with the kit. One of our mentors threw it in our parts box. Also, we did find the kit gyro and accelerometer. Thanks!
