PROBLEM. HELP.

Hey everyone.

My Inventor model is completely finished, but I am not sure how to convert to an AutoCAD dwf of a .jpeg. I also do not know how to create a zip-folder. Can anyone please help me out?

Also, We are getting a lot of snow, and I am not sure if we will have a early dismissal, which means there may not be robotics today. What are the consequences of not submitting the Autodesk Inventor award? Is there anything held against us/me?

What computer/operating system are you using to make zip-folder?

Re: PROBLEM. HELP.

If you right-click on the folder containing the things you want to zip, you should see a pop-up menu with the send to flyout menu. Move the cursor over that line and another menu should appear with an entry that mentions zipped folder. Click on that and explorer should make you a zip file of the contents of the folder.

Re: PROBLEM. HELP.

Thanks for the help. And yes, I would like a jpeg of the model. Is there a way to render the model?

Re: PROBLEM. HELP.

I'm not familiar with inventor, but it seems to me that there should be a way to get it to make the jpeg file for you. Failing that you can always use the "print screen key" on the keyboard to capture what is showing on the screen. Then paste it into a Paint program window, then save as jpeg. Just have your inventor window at full screen when you hit the print screen key.

Re: PROBLEM. HELP.

To render your robot,

With your assembly open.
1) Adjust your view until it is something that you like
2) Click Tools->Inventor Studio
3) Render Image

That's it. Just fiddle around with the settings in render image until it is something that you like, then save it.

Re: PROBLEM. HELP.

Thank you very much. Would you happen to know how long it takes to render? A reasonable estimate?

How about converting an Autodesk Inventor .iam to an AutoCAD .dwf?

(Sorry for all of the questions. This is my first year submitting.)

Re: PROBLEM. HELP.

Although I dont have Inventor, my educated guess is that you can only create a dxf from a drawing - not from the 3dModel.

There may also be file, save as, settings you can use from the Model. Shrink the window down.

Re: PROBLEM. HELP.

Thank you all for helping me with this. This was my first year submitting, and I did not really have any guidance at all. Heh, I have been worried about this all for a good 3 days, maybe more. Thankfully, everything was gathered to be submitted. Thanks again!

Re: PROBLEM. HELP.

Rendering depends on the speed of your computer, size of assembly, anti-aliasing, lighting and other factors. On my computer to render a 1920x1200 with full lighting, shadows, max anti-aliasing, etc it takes about 45 seconds.

To export as DWF, it should just be in the main dropdown menu, just select export, then export to DWF. I am not at my CAD computer right now, so I cannot check this.

You might be able to do it that way. When I set up the drawing for our machinist/waterjet I lay it out in a drawing project minus the titleblock and border, and save it as a .dwg that way.

Re: PROBLEM. HELP.

You can create a .DWF file from a 3D model in Inventor by going to
File-Save As-Save Copy As, Then select dwf from the "save as type" window, rename and hit save.

PS: this also works for .JPEG files, that's how we made ours.

I would email Autodesk and tell them that they did not have your team name, so you could not submit your award. We have had issues uploading our pictures and dwf, so we emailed them and they uploaded for us. This also happened with another team, so I do not see why they won't help you. Hope it works!!
