Re: team 804 help needed

Just to be sure I will ask several questions that you likely have correct. There is only a few things that are common to all of your problems.
1. The Crio is powered from the dedicated 24 volt output of the PD and you have checked the wiring to be sure there is no strands or the wire touching?
2. The wiring from the battery connector to the 120 amp circuit breaker is tight, both the cable clamp and the hardware on the breaker and the PD?
3. The voltage jumper is on the analog module and the module is plugged into slot 1?
4. The LED on the Spike is showing that it is powered and changes when the robot is enabled?
5. The digital sidecar is plugged into a digital module in slot 4 of the Crio and the multipin cable is secure at both ends?
6. The digital sidecar is connected to a 12 volt output of the PD through a breaker and the cable is good at both ends, again with no strands touching at either end?
7. The digital sidecar power supply lights are ON and bright showing the three power supply voltages are good?
8. The Crio is switching to enabled and other parts of the robot function correctly and are inhibited when the robot is disabled?
9. When you say no signals are being processed do you mean you have no control of the robot either wireless or tethered?
10. If things work when you are tethered but not when wireless, do you have the dedicated +12 volt power supply connected to the router?

1) yes odd thing is crio says its powered on the thing, but it wont sent signals
2) no ends are missing, everyting is right there.
3) yes
4)just is always red, odd thing is that it just stoped working, we have replaced the spike and the code didnt change from when it stopped working.
5)its secure, but weird things are happening, a member of our team short circuited the board and we have replaced almost everything touching that.
6) yes but with a blinking light...
7)yes, but we have that blinking light close to the end (see below)
8)nothing functions.
9)its not about being teathered vs wireless, thats not a problem, no signals as in turn motar on and it doesnt do it, it doesnt even see the signal it just keeps blinking red yellow at us (we are using vectors)
10)its reciving the signals, the 12v is conected and always has been.

On Digital Sidecar, we have a blinking light on the other side of wago from the 5V, 6V, and Bat LED. Does that tell us something?!

That RSL (Robot Status Light) tells you that nothing else will work, because it's disabled.

Several possible reasons, but what will tell us the most about your problem is:
Are any of the Driver Station status lights red or is it Disabled?

Re: team 804 help needed

A few more things to check. Pull out your multimeter

1. What is the battery voltage at the lug nuts on the power distribution board?
2. What is the voltage the cRio power plug is getting (the "V" and "C" pins)? Is this wired the correct way (with +24V to the "V" and gnd to the "C")
3. What is the voltage the digital side car is getting from the Wago connector? Is this plugged in the correct way (with the + and - printed on the side car)?
4. Does the classmate PC show that it's connected to the cRio?
5. Is the stop button plugged into the classmate? Has it been pressed?
6. Is the robot enabled on the classmate PC?
7. Is the 37-pin DB extension cable between the cRio and the side car firmly seated on both ends. Have you tried a different cable?
8. How are the dip switched set on the cRio?

Also, pictures say 1000 words... taking some pictures of how things are wired (specifically the cRio and digital side car) could really help. A picture of the classmate PC dashboard could also help. Take all the pictures with everything on and enabled.

Will get you those pictures.

1) 12 volts
2) 24 volts but the
3) not sure, but it has worked in the past
4) yes, but this says 00.00 volts
5) yes it is pluged in no it has not been pressed
6) yes
7) yes it is, we also swaped out the cable and sidecar multiple times
8) they are all on.

pictures are coming in the next post.

Unhappy Re: team 804 help needed

We are starting to htink that our Crio is no longer working, as it was shorted out multiple times, it may have caused damage, how do we know if it is broken.

That's a problem. They should all be off (with the possible exception of the console out switch).

Re: team 804 help needed

#4 from last numbered post -- we now have 12V signal on Classmate after installing and powering analog bumper. Why is that bumper needed -- well, other than to get the voltage on the Classmate?!

Re: team 804 help needed

It's necessary just for the battery voltage feedback.
A lot of things going wrong on a robot are traceable to low battery conditions, especially on the playing field. The field staff monitors robot voltages and notifies teams of bad batteries, low batteries, and non-batteries

Re: team 804 help needed

The 12 volt jumper is also the feedback that tells the Crio when the battery is falling to the point the 24 volt power supply will not keep running. The Crio inhibits all output when the power supply falls below 5.5 volts. The 24 volt supply drops out about 4.5 volts. The Crio inhibit is a safety feature to prevent the robot from running by itself.
