Re: Where Are You Volunteering(2010)

I'll be volunteering at Philly - no official assignment yet (as far as I can tell - I assume we'd get an email? It's my first time volunteering, since I'm not on a team this year) but I requested assembly/disassembly/reset.

Re: Where Are You Volunteering(2010)

So far I am registered at the Pittsburgh regional and the Buckeye regional with no assignments as of yet.

I have been registered for about three to four weeks and still I have not heard anything from either event.

Re: Where Are You Volunteering(2010)

For those of you who haven't heard back from your local regional Coordinators, I highly recommend sending an email and starting the conversation. Your RD, Senior Mentor, or Regional Planning Committee chair should know their contact info.

I know personally this year I was holding back a couple of good people until I saw what happened at the scrimmages, and I can't take as many volunteers as I usually can, but keep in mind that there are a variety of reasons that they may not have contacted you: they may not know your expertise, the days you are able to volunteer or the roles you want may not work with the needs they have, etc.

Starting the conversation shows that you are genuinely interested and would be a great volunteer. And if you're flexible with your role, say so! I make a habit of offering more experienced roles to volunteers who took a job last year that they may not have been thrilled to do, but did it enthusiastically and well (Jacob is an excellent example of that.)

Good luck!

I'm heading to the following locations:

New Jersey
Chesapeake's Pit
Philly's Pit
Championship Pit

Baltimore's going to be new to all of us. I'm looking forward to meeting a whole new group of people there as well as seeing some old friends!

Let the games begin!

-----Done-----
JFLL/FLL/FTC - Delaware [DJ]
FTC - NJ
-----Upcoming-----
FRC - Chesapeake [Scrkpr]
FRC - Philadelphia [Scrkpr]
FRC - Championships [Scrkpr]

Although, I usually find my way to another regional or two on saturdays depending on how my work/uni schedule pans out against regional scheduling. Not sure if I'll manage that this year though.

My official assignment hasn't come yet, but unofficially, I seem to be in good shape for being both website judge and scorekeeper/field power at Seattle. Fun stuff!

I believe in intuition and inspiration. Imagination is more important than knowledge. For knowledge is limited, whereas imagination embraces the entire world, stimulating progress, giving birth to evolution. It is, strictly speaking, a real factor in scientific research.

Re: Where Are You Volunteering(2010)

So far I only signed up to help build the field Wednesday night in CT.
One of my most chill seasons in my 10 years of FIRST & volunteering so far.
Who knows how the rest of the year will shape up though?
