Re: Team 1606 hanging

Looks... floppy

Is it really sensitive to how the bot is lined up with the tower?

Could that jacking mechanism be an elevator for another robot?

The robot does need to be lined up correctly, but we have a camera on the front that will hopefully help us position it right.
As for the elevator idea, we never really thought of it that way, but maybe it could be used for another robot to hang onto. I think that would be a long shot though.

Wow I totally wasn't expecting that to happen. Very nice surprise. But ground clearance seems to be an issue?

Amazing! I kept expecting your hook to release and expand. When your entire robot lifted I think my jaw hit the floor.

Re: Team 1606 hanging

I hate to be a buzzkill...

The position of your bumpers changes with your hanging mechanism, and you're not climbing a bump or anything, so I'm tempted to say that counts as actuating your bumpers and is illegal since they leave the normal bumper zone :/

Bumper rules aside (good luck with a fix)... What motivated you to do this instead of the "traditional" winch method? This is pretty awesome and all, but I'm curious as to why you didn't use that piston to extend your hook, or something like that?
