Re: Most Offensive Regional/ M District
Michigan districts play 12 matches and the rest of the country plays 10. Taking Hot's 168 and multiplying by 10/12 gets them 140 based on 10 matches. It is still much higher, but with this years seeding system, regionals that are offensive and close will have much higher seeding points that have larger disparities between teams. Kettering had a lot of closely matched teams with some over achievers.

Re: Most Offensive Regional/ M District
We were very fortunate to win a match that ended 12 - 11 w/o penalties. That resulted in an incredible 34 seeding points! Without that match, our normalized seeding points would be much closer to the rest of the week one regional 1st seeds.
The interesting thing is that we always had a robot dedicated to defending the other alliances home zone. Basically, the "new" way of determining the rankings had very little effect on our overall strategy. It seems pretty simple to me...if you win all your matches the x2 points you get will be enough to push you towards the top. For me, the best way to win is to score alot of points and attempt to limit your opponent scoring (to a point). Ofcourse, we will continuously evaluate our strategy as the competition level rises. |
