In San Diego QF3, Match 2, 815 gets flipped very early in the match. However, that doesn't stop them, they still have 2 wheels touching the ground and somehow they not only manage to move, but play effective defense.

A slight clarification... they only had 1 wheel! :O It looks like two, but the other wheel on the ground wasn't even driven because the chain broke when they tipped over. We (846) were on their alliance and thought we were doomed, but they really managed to play some amazing D. One of the highlights of our trip

Re: Great Plays of 2010

That match was one of the most entertaining matches i've seen in a very long time. Major props to 815 being on "two wheels" and still defending better than most of the robots i had seen at the regional! They drove me crazy that match!

I don't care what their robot does, ever, in any competition, I'm picking 815.

When 610 would get shoved over they would run on their side to the bump and use it to right themselves every time.
That bot is gonna make some serious noise next time it hits the field in Waterloo.

Thanks for all the great comments on Team 1073 and our amazing winning alliance members !!! Not only were there some mind blowing plays, but we had to go into overtime after a win, tie, and loss. It was just an amazing weekend!

Re: Great Plays of 2010

I was reviewing some tapes and I saw this-
http://www.more.net/content/2010-fir...-final-matches
In match 15 at the 4:40 mark in the tape. Team 1986 colides head on with 931 who has posseission of a ball. 1986 then steals the ball straight out of 931's ball magnet and clears it.

Re: Great Plays of 2010

I know you aren't supposed to toot your own horn on here, but there is such little talk about our little Bayou Regional that I haven't seen this game on here yet. The biggest play for our team (2992) was in our semi-final match 1.

My fellow mentor and I have a curse that follows us around at the Bayou where our semi-final matches always have something go wrong on our alliance partners and cost us the match. Last year, an alliance partner lost a battery connector and sat still and in the other match the other partner didn't move. In Lunacy, one robot down was a killer at eliminations. During Overdrive for team 2182, our own autonomous stopped working only during the semi's and that cost us just enough points to lose. (With no change between matches, the auto just stopped working, and started back up after the semi's) On Rack and Roll with 2182 again, we took our semi-final matches to 5 games and lost to 118 when they drove up our ramp illegally and knocked off our alliance partner. The curse is well documented.

So imagine my dismay this year, when at our semis, both or our alliance partners end up on their back shortly after the game starts, and we have a front wheel on our robot which decides to break. The curse was back and back hard this time. The coolest part was that we were able to limp across the bump, and flip our alliance partner back on their feet and then double teamed the defender bot to score 2 points with 15 seconds left to go. That won the game for us, 2 to 1. We had finally broken our curse, but not without it trying its best to defeat us.

Luckily it was one of the few matches that ended up being recorded at the Bayou and you can see it here:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BcYsRVEIRpE

It was a huge nail-biter at the Bayou, and after fighting through that game we were able to go on to win our Regional.

We look forward to going to Atlanta this year and mixing it up with all the other teams that make it. It looks like we have a decent design, being similar to 469 in being a ball looper. Unfortunately ball looping didn't work at the Bayou because it requires a good scoring bot up front to get the loop started. But we have an awesome vacuum possessor and adjustable kicker as well so we still had an excellent showing. Looking forward to seeing our own looper in action with all the good bots that'll be at Atlanta.
