watchdog not fed when "enable" is first pressed

In labview, whenever we first hit "enable", a message briefly flashes saying the watchdog is not fed, and then after a fraction of a second it will go away and we'll be able to control the robot just fine (and won't get any more watchdog not fed messages for the duration of a match). If we click disable and then enable again, we'll get the same "watchdog not fed" message.

Is this okay, or will this cause our robot to shut down in competition at the very start? I'm hoping a brief watchdog failure upon startup is actually expected and okay.

And is there a practice mode we can use that will mimic the competition mode? If our robot is going to shut down in competition, I'd like it to shut down for our practices too, so we know.
