It's okay to throw a user Watchdog in Autonomous if you aren't doing anything. Watchdogs aren't bad in and of themselves.
A Watchdog during Autonomous (after you finished doing anything) doesn't prevent Teleop from starting (as long as Teleop feeds the Watchdog). It's when you throw one and you were supposed to be doing something, then that's a problem.
