Final Week One Data (Very Useful)

Just the fruits of our labor... the graph shows what your percent chance of winning any given match based on what each individual team scores. If you want to see the data by alliance, then multiply the points (X-axis) by three.
Thanks!

Re: Final Week One Data (Very Useful)

Interesting analysis.

What data / method did you use to reach this conclusion?

Re: Final Week One Data (Very Useful)

I took the winning score of every final, semifinal, and quarterfinal match in every regional or district. I then used those numbers to find the Mean and standard deviation, and used a normal curve to find the probability of each point value winning you the match. Hope it Helps!

Is there enough data to do this for the seeding rounds?

Re: Final Week One Data (Very Useful)

That's interesting, because we did extremely well at the FLR (first seed, regional champs), but didn't actually score all that many goals ourselves. (Maybe 1-2 per game).

This game isn't about robots scoring. It's about *alliances* of robots scoring. Our robot was instrumental to our alliance winning almost every game they played, in spite of our low personal scoring record.

Re: Final Week One Data (Very Useful)

Yeah there is enough data for seeding rounds, actually there's so much that it's really hard to collect it all, I think your right, this isn't about each robots point, but if you multiply each X-value by 3, the data shows the entire alliances chance of winning.

I really like this I wonder how much it will change from week to week as strategies alter and modify.

Re: Final Week One Data (Very Useful)

I think it definitly says something about automous mode. With most of the matches won with one robot each contributing 4 or 5 points, getting two or three scored without any problem in the first 15 seconds will be huge. Hopefully teams will spend time now focusing on this period.
