R-14 and R-15 are the pertinent rules in this matter. It appears that you require only to have the team number on each side of the robot. Otherwise, you are generally free to do whatever you wish with sponsor and school logos...

And the team number is on the bumpers and does not need to be on the robot in another location.

<R15> Teams shall display their team number on the BUMPERS in four locations at approximately 90-degree intervals around the perimeter of the ROBOT. The numerals must be at least 4 inches high, at least in ¾-inch stroke width and in a contrasting color from its background. Team Numbers must be clearly visible from a distance of not less than 100 feet, so that judges, referees, and announcers can easily identify competing ROBOTS.

So, any method of getting the school / organization name and main sponsor(s) on the robot is fine. Paint, stickers, paper taped/glued down, or even masking tape with the information written on it will work.

I like the black foam core idea; that would look very classy!
