177 Bobcat Robotics Promo 2010
Here is this year's FRC entry from Bobcat Robotics.
The video shows some prototyping as well as a traditional Bobcat assembly time lapse, this time focusing on our unusual drivetrain this year. We also have some footage from the the Suffield Shakedown in here. The entire video as always was shot, cut and mixed by the students on our media team. Enjoy... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ygkaZ...=youtube_gdata |

Re: 177 Bobcat Robotics Promo 2010
that's one of the best ball control mechanisms i've seen so far. I'm loving the drivetrain as well. Looks like it's going to be another beast from 177, too bad I won't get to witness it in person this year

Re: 177 Bobcat Robotics Promo 2010
That is so sick, our ball magnet is almost exactly the same. The hourglass form works so well. What speed are you running yours at though, ours is a bit slow at the moment.

Re: 177 Bobcat Robotics Promo 2010
That is one sweet machine.
How does the ball magnet handle the real game piece? Our hates the Wilson soccer balls but loves the game piece soccer balls. |

Re: 177 Bobcat Robotics Promo 2010
We actually changed the ball handler after getting our hands on a real ball. The real one is similar in shape but made out of a different material. The video team didn't get video of the final version because it was around 4am when it went on. The speed is a CIM at 3:1 similar to our pickup roller from last year.

Re: 177 Bobcat Robotics Promo 2010
Love the time lapse. Love the ball magnet. LOVE the drivetrain!
I think that is the smoothest I've seen someone traverse the bump. Knowing 177 I can assume two things: 1. They will get 110% out of whatever they put on the field. 2. They will continue to improve this machine from now until Einstein (which, odds say, they'll probably be on.) Looks awesome guys. I can't wait to see it in person! -John |

Re: 177 Bobcat Robotics Promo 2010
How are you running the ball magnet when you show the prototype of it in the beginning? It looks like your drill is attached to something that is attached to the shaft.

Re: 177 Bobcat Robotics Promo 2010
The drill was attached to a flexible drive, which attached to a plywood coupler on the shaft.

Re: 177 Bobcat Robotics Promo 2010
We are using one of the old seat motor flexi shafts. These were part of the kit 2004 and earlier I believe. As a 16 year team we have a lot of old parts like that lying around, and half of them we don't remember when or where exactly they came from.
