I just wanted to say it on Chief Delphi

This year has had some bumps in the road for my team. But after us going to the Arizona regional for the FRC competition, I could never be more proud of my team. Team number 2375, the Biohazards from a school only open for four years. With lots of hard work, deep thought, perseverance, and lack of sleep, we the new little school and robotics team made it together to the finals match and earned ourselves a silver medal!

As team captain of the Biohazards, I must say, I'm very proud of you guys, and even though I'm graduating this year, I'm addicted to this sport and must come back for more next year.

Thanks guys, for a terrific season!

dont we all want to say that sometimes. and it is the best when you can say that with a metal around your neck. It sounds like your team pulled through, good job.

It just goes to show that gold isn't the only sign of victory. I know exactly how you feel, in my four years of being an FRC student, we didn't get much respect until in my last event, we won the Team Spirit award, and to be called a "Team" via that award was more powerful and uplifting for us all then any medal we could receive.

Congrats on your accomplishments for this season for you and your team. See ya in the mentoring/volunteering loop!

Congrats! I would suggest (if you're going away to college next year) that you should look into FIRST teams in the area you're going to see if any in your area could use help. I spent my first year in college traveling back and forth 2 hours to help during the weekends as a 'Mentor in Training' and it sure was a lot of work. I found that even with being there many weekends it wasn't enough to support the team as much as I wanted and also brought down my studies. Since then I have found a team in my area which needed help (only had one or two mentors at the time, neither engineering-oriented) which me and and another teammate that came here have helped for the past two seasons, bringing them to the eliminations for the first time last weekend. I have found working with a team closer when I'm available during the week and weekends is better (for me at least) because I am around to help them more and can come back to the college setting to do work after helping them for the day.

Good luck to you and your team in the future.
-Rizner

Re: I just wanted to say it on Chief Delphi

I know exactly how you feel. My first year in FIRST was my senior year of high school and my team's second year. The year before they had made it to the semifinals of the Lone Star Regional and that was the standard that we had to reach. We won the regional and went to Atlanta for the first time. I was very fortunate to get that whole experience in one year. We were close to making it to Einstein too. Ever since then, I've been addicted to it and I plan to be apart of it for as long as I can.

Congrats on your team winning the silver!!!

Re: I just wanted to say it on Chief Delphi

It was great to play with you guys, and I'm also glad you guys didn't lose hope and pack up your bot when you were not selected. The three other "back up bots" had packed up if I'm not mistaken. This goes to show that anything can happen during eliminations. We were surprised by how ready your team was to play and loved the enthusiasm. We couldn't have asked for a better team. Team 987 & 3194 truly appreciates your effort and looks to playing with you in the future.

Re: I just wanted to say it on Chief Delphi

One other backup, actually.

2375 came when they were in the top 10 seeds to get their elimination inspection, then they waited. They weren't picked, but were high enough to be a backup. So they waited again. And waited. And waited. Until 987 used their backup coupon and they were the only ones available, then they were on the field as fast as they could safely go.

Darth, might I suggest that you volunteer as an inspector next year? (7-8 inspectors and 56-57 teams makes for long waits during inspection.)
