Re: 2010 Waterloo Regional - No Rookies?

With only 8 days until practice day, I want to say that anyone having trouble with C++ or debugging should drop by 2702's pit and ask for Art. I helped get a bunch of teams get dead robots moving and out of control mechanisms moving smoothly last year and would love to help again.

Also, I should probably change my CD account to have my real name on it or something...

Re: 2010 Waterloo Regional - No Rookies?

In the schedual it says that robot dropoff is on wednesday between 6 and 8 pm

Do we HAVE to drop off our robots that day? or can we just bring them with us on thursday?

No, you can bring them Thursday.

According to the e-mail sent out to team contacts, it's just a measure to alleviate some of the Thursday morning traffic, and eliminate the problem of finding secure overnight robot storage for the teams that are planning to arrive Wednesday.

Pat is correct, it is not mandatory. However, it is highly recommended. Anyone who has attended the regional in the past knows how long of a process Thursday morning load in has been in the past. With the addition of bagged robots, the line ups along Ring Road could be even worse. So if you can make it to Waterloo on Wednesday night, please drop your robot off!

Re: 2010 Waterloo Regional - No Rookies?

To add to Karthiek's point above, the ring road south of the PAC could be a bad place to get back logged thursday morning. Current construction on the quantum nano centre could potentially become a traffic nightmare with teams lining up alongside construction vehicles.

If you can get your robots in on wednesday night, you can probably avoid the construction entirely.

Re: 2010 Waterloo Regional - No Rookies?

How did Thursday go?

From the reports I've heard 2056 looks to have another great robot, them and 1114 are going to be a dangerous duo. Who else is looking good?

I've been working with the team running the Waterloo regional to try and get a webcast up for tomorrow, if things go well it should be brodcasted here: http://www.ustream.tv/channel/2010-f...erloo-regional

Re: 2010 Waterloo Regional - No Rookies?

i think israel regional was the most challenging to the rookies. there were 9 rookie team. 4 rookie teams make it to the final 24. 3 rookie teams were in one alliance at the final. my team - 3339 were in that alliance and we won the rookie all star. the bosnian team won the rookie inspiration award. the team 3383 who were in the final 8 won the rookie seed. (my team was chosen as number 3 to the final)
