Re: Woodie Flowers & Volunteer of the year

If it's happened, it's never been highlighted publicly. A check of the Palmetto awards going back to its inception in 2004 indicates it's never happened here for certain.

(Related: Someone have a better way of checking other events for this short of loading every event-year's page manually?)

Re: Woodie Flowers & Volunteer of the year

In 2008, Tonya Scott, mentor for FRC 476, garnered the Volunteer Award and the regional Woodie Flowers Award. FRC 476 won the Chairman's Award. All of this happened at the inaugural OKC Regional. I was there to participate in the event and to witness the award ceremony. It was spectacular.

Tonya deserved those awards and if your coach garnered both of those, then you, your team, your coach, the regional, and everyone involved, has much to be proud of and to celebrate. Each of the awards come with much blood, sweat, tears, and joy.

I still marvel at the inaugural OKC Regional, the efforts of everyone involved to make it a fun and memorable event, and of the celebration of Tonya as a representative of can-do attitude and creating opportunity.

Congratulations to your coach!

Jane

Re: Woodie Flowers & Volunteer of the year

It happened to me, but even if not the first, it's a rare honor.

Thanks a lot, our coach has done some crazy stuff in the past six years he's been a mentor/coach. I'll be posting my essay on here soon-ish if you care to read it.

It's always a pleasure to read the essays. Double-check with your coach and your team to make sure though. Congratulations again!
