World record for penalties in one game

This is a game from the Israeli regional.
My team(2630) scores 6 goals, 5 from first zone and one from 2nd(we control our kick range).
Notice the amount of penalties at the end. watch again.. and try and spot them.
Can't? well, that's because the ball return tracker wasn't working. Luckily this game was part of the games that weren't counted at the end. (the red alliance by winning achieved 18 points for doing nothing =\)

We can also pass bumps, but no one bothers us through the tunnel so it's easier.

There is another game posted, that game we started with joysticks upside down, and ended up flipping a robot.

I'd love to answer any questions.

Re: World record for penalties in one game

How many penalty points was it? (I cant watch it, for computer reasons)

I know NJ had an 81 point penalty in a practice match (81 give or take).

During a Qualification in Arizona. A match with 842 (Falcon Robotics) had a 22 point penalty offset to their 8 points

It was 44 penalties in a match. And I thought 12 was a lot!

But 81?!? How did that happen?

Re: World record for penalties in one game

Argh. At GVSU, there were many field-related issues. One of the worst ones was when our alliance lost because of 9 "dogma" penalties. Obviously, this was a field error, and the score was corrected.

This was during qualifications. As absurd as it seems, it was not corrected.
Only the next day it was announced that all ranking will be set to 0 and all teams will get 3 games.

Re: World record for penalties in one game

Our alliance lost the second round of the NJ finals due to a 14 point penalty assessed on us (our only loss). Our human player accidentally (quickly) dropped the ball over the field wall into the playing field and therefore never activated the timing sensor and letting the dogma penalty rack up. Since the ball was out of reach we couldn't retrieve it. We would have won the round something like 12-6

Eventually we won the third match of the finals (with a broken machine) so it worked out in the end.

But I question this however- isn't there a 2 pt penalty with yellow card for dropping the ball over the wall? Why did the DOGMA penalty build up if the ball was obviously back in play? Why were we assessed so many points?

Overall the incident galvanized our team and gave the crowd a real thrill. I never saw so many people cheering at a penalty. Thanks guys....

Re: World record for penalties in one game

I remember the laughing about that game

The other match you uploaded was against us..We pretty much sucked in that match - you flipped one bot and than (of course) it lost connection, and the other bot passed the middle line in auto (the one penalty in the end).

your bot is awesome - great chassis (would like to know more about it )
your driver was excellent too.

See you all next year!

Good question...my guess is they couldn't get them in Israel? Although I would have thought they'd come w/ the field.

Re: World record for penalties in one game

So would I! how strange. It sucks if teams were using the actual ball and had a mechanism that only worked with the DTI balls. Highly unlikely but it is a disadvantage for team who took the initiative to buy the right ones.

You are absolutely correct. I think the reason we used Nike Balls was because one of the teams was donated something like 50 balls.
Our team was well aware that the balls that FIRST Israel were going to use might not be DTI and we tested our ball possession mechanism on several types of balls (We are able to fit the mechanism to any ball, but we need a ball for that).
The odd thing is that we didn't have a Nike ball at reach in the competition day. And we started off with a ball possession mechanism that is not very effective, only later on that day we found a ball like that from one of the teams. (This balls cost something like 100$, so it wasn't easy to just go and get one).

If you think that's weird, The poll Diameter of the towers were wrong. And some teams had to say good bye to their well designed hanging device.

Re: World record for penalties in one game

During one of the first matches of the St. Louis regional, there was a team... in the 3000's, can't remember the exact number... whose ball kicker was quickly vibrating in and out of the frame perimeter through the entire match. They ended up only calling 3 penalties (enough to wipe out all of their points), but there probably could have been more then 100...
