Awesome! That makes two (three if you count 968, although I can't confirm that one for sure...)

Re: Vertical Pipe Hanging

Team 226 is working on it. We had to gear down to get enough torque but at that point we had already been through several disasters with out original hanger that we didn't want to try...one of our mentors did it anyways. We are currently debating whether or not to mount it due to the effects it may have on our bumpability*.

*how fast and efficiently you can go over the bump

Re: Vertical Pipe Hanging

Maybe I'm in the wrong thread here, but does anyone have a video to show of a robot "driving" up a pole. I think I know what your talking about, but need to see it in action.

BTW: In a match at SVR, 254 was scoring a ball with 10 seconds left, then drove to the tower, lined up and hung with 4 seconds still left in the match. This was on Friday at their first comp. I bet they will get this manuever (depending on defense of course) down to just a few seconds. VERY FAST!!

Look at this video starting at 2:28 to see 78 drive up the side pole. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yc4mw8YvBLw

Yep, 1717 latches on to the pole then uses a gas shock to push off the platform. One of the cooler hanger mechanisms I've seen this year.
