Cheap, reliable hosting...

If your team is in need of cheap, reliable hosting, send me an e-mail.

I am re-selling webspace for Ventures Online (the same service that hosts chiefdelphi.com).
My prices are a bit cheaper than VO, but the service is still just as reliable.

Payments are by PayPal, in 3, 6, or 12 month increments. And hosting plans & prices can be found here: http://hosting.pubarso.com/

Let me know if I can help ya out.

Its well worth it

After paying $30 a month for Yahoo, I decided to switch to Brandon's Hosting.
Now http://www.rhodewarrior.org is on Brandon's servers. The price is competitive, there are no hidden fees, and he uses Paypal.

At first I had a couple of problems, but Brandon helped me fixed them. He is very knowledgeable, and can reply to your problem very quickly.

So I would seriously check out his deals, if you looking for quality web hosting.

I know many people who have small hosting companies. I talkted to one of them and they said that the best for the teams would be there speciall price. ww.milescape.com they have a plan
for $100 year. you can right now get 100mb/7.5gig bandwidth
which is good i think for most teams. They are soon gonna change the promotional to 300mb. So wait a bit.

Well the one MVRT is hosted on is nomonthlyfees.com we got it for cheap because we know the guy. Though they have a good plan like $200 one time fee.catch is 70 domain feew for year. But if you write to them. They maybe able to give you a good deal.

wow, you guys aren't looking into this gigantic thing we call the internet at all.. i'm getting 500mb space/5 gig transfer w/1 mysql, cgi, php, perl, server side, unlimited pop3, webmail interface, etc. for $2.08/month if paid yearly or $2.50/month if paid monthly... then you can get $8/year domain registration and that can end up being $32.96 a year for all that... but it did take me a while to find.

A cheap way to host a site might be to bug the heck out of your school to let you have a computer on their network. I believe the average highschool has a T1 line, correct? (I'm in the smallest school I have ever been in...our graduation class will be below 70 and we have a T1). Have some computer-savvy (or not-so-savvy) person on your team setup a simple apache/ftp server. You would need a domain name and IP address. I've never really networked so I don't know any of the details.

I have 800 mb and unlimited transfer with as much mysql, cgi, php, perl, and anything else I want for just the cost of keeping my computer on all the time. :-p

Re: previous two posts

Thats fine if (a) your ISP allows you to run a server, and (b) you don't have a high load on your website. If I were to run a site here at home, I'd have to deal with the dynamic IP changing all the time, not to mention the speed restrictions on my connection, thanks to comcast. It'd be too much of a hassle, and the few dollars you spend a month is worth having someone else worry about most aspects of running it, imho. I'd rather work on the content of the site, rather than work on keeping ithe server stable.

Well, my HS campus is 3 schools and each one has ONE cable connection. 5000 kids, 3 cable modems, not very good.

I think they may not have speed restrictions though, cause i think we made a deal with Comcrap(Comcast).

Wouldn't work unless they gave you an external IP address. If you only had the internal school network address, only the people on that network would be able to get to it.

Our district has a horrible policy of not allowing any last names to be posted on any sites on the school servers. We're hosting our site off of one of our engineer's servers with 40gigs of space to waste if feel like it. Our school has a T1 line for 1500 people and that does tend to slow down on the slower systems. As for personally hosting, I don't feel like giving the URL of where I get my hosting from... it's be nice to have my server but I RoadRunner has so many proxies and firewalls and bs that it's just dumb, especially when your site gets some hits and it clogs everything up.
