Re: Newton Division 2010

So wish I could be there to watch and root for all the teams especially 1902.

Re: Newton Division 2010

Similar to what I did in previous years, I ran through 200 simulated qualification match schedules (all 144 matches, using the FIRST match generator). I used each team's average opr for their contribution to a match. I calculated the standings for each of the 200 simulated qualification schedules, and then looked at some statistics from the aggregate results.

Code:

Re: Newton Division 2010

Joe Ross, what order are those teams in? All I know is that it goes from generally higher seed to generally lower, but there are discrepancies. 2619 looks like it's in worse shape than 910, yet it is higher on the list.

Oh, and it'd be great for 67 to seed first! (too bad that never happens in Atlanta)

Re: Newton Division 2010

Thanks Joe, that really puts things into perspective. Having not played outside of Michigan since 2006 it is really hard to gauge teams from other areas.

I have a feeling 1718 will do very well this year. I'm rooting you guys on to make an appearance in the Finals, if not Einstein.

Looking forward to playing with you.

Ditto that. So far you're one of only a handful of people who have even acknowledged we exist . It'll be our first time that we can afford it since '06, and we're all looking forward to having a great time there!

We hope to be another one of those not-really-considered teams that surprises people in a 'Wow! Where did they come from?!?' sort of way. Most people don't really know us, as we only do the FLR and our appearance at nationals last year was more for the taste of it, and we were... less than stellar.

I know we've got some monster teams on Newton (and I say that with nothing but admiration), but we hope to hold our own against the big boys and really strut our stuff.

Haha, 1718 and 1551, I assure you, people who you want noticing, have noticed. The teams at the top do their pre-scouting thoroughly.

Pre-scouting? What's that?

Our team had to notice when you beat us in the quals at MSC. There was even more noticing going on when your alliance racked up 20 and then 17 points in the quarterfinals against 27, 201, and 703. That is sick! Semis were so close. I think in the first match the scores were never more than a point away from each other. If it weren't for that 2 point penalty (don't carry the ball!) it would have been a tie game.

Re: Newton Division 2010

1718 and 1551, I feel your pain! We, too, think we have a fine machine this year and hope to get some attention in Atlanta. We did well in CT, and had we not had strange mishaps in two matches (once lost communication with the field, once had our kicker get stuck out, both now corrected) could well have been an alliance captain. We have a reliable autonomous mode (scoring 1-2 balls per match), scored 3-5 balls in teleop and can supply balls from midfield easily, and hung successfully (and quickly) in every attempt. We're looking forward to playing again now that our minor kinks have been worked out!

Ya team 33 noticed you from the get-go. You were very impressive, and with a little luck we could have had 67, 217, 2612 at states. I predict you will go far in Atlanta this year, seriously, You Have A Good Robot!
