Re: VEX Robotics World Championship Reminder Video

Awesome video ! I'm signed up to attend with the DiscoBots 2587 (three teams) and Rice University

VEX worlds this year is going to be amazing. Near 400 teams are registered and the Dallas Convention Center is a fantastic venue.

Who from ChiefDelphi and the FIRST community is attending ?

Re: VEX Robotics World Championship Reminder Video

I'll be there. Compared to FRC 1768's team of 30, VRC 1768 is a bit smaller (just me). Maybe I'll see you around although with over 400 teams it is kinda unlikely.

Re: VEX Robotics World Championship Reminder Video

1346C qualified, but we're saving our travel money for a run at Atlanta one of these days with the big machine.

We'll be cheering for our neighbours, from Gladstone secondary (I believe 721 has the current world record in driver skills at 131 points) and our Redmond friends from the Exothermic teams (one of whom has a driver skills score of 130.)

And yes... the BC VEX Championships WERE a pretty awesome event when you've got driver skills scores of 130 and 131 at one event, especially when the teams have been going head to head (and sometimes allied together... frightening when that happens) for three years now!

Its a pity there are 100 teams in each division, though. Even with a full-complement FRC team it is difficult to thoroughly scout a 100 team event. With smaller VEX teams, it is going to be next to impossible to pick out the top 24 from a pool that size.

Eight 50 team divisions would have been a much more reasonable breakdown, although I know the logistics and volutunteer resources required would be higher.

Jason

Ack! The thought of recruiting eight divisions (which would be 16 fields) worth of volunteers give me the cold sweats.

Exothermic Robotics will be there with eight teams and 50 people. This should be fun.

Re: VEX Robotics World Championship Reminder Video

VRC 1899 will be there! Drop by our pit for a visit!

Ah, Trobotics we'll miss you. Your alliance brought us to worlds after all (and kindly donated your set of game objects at Microsoft Seattle). And I believe Green Egg Robotics has a 133 score from New England Championships.

Although I'm hearing scores as high as 143 for practice.

I actually think 4 divisions of 100 is more reasonable not only because of the resources necessary, but also because alliances will be selected from a larger pool. More divisions = potentially splitting up teams that together would have deserved the championship.

Re: VEX Robotics World Championship Reminder Video

Teams 80 and 81 from Downingtown Area Robotics will be there. Six of our middle school roboteers will be competing! They are very excited.

(And I'm excited too, these are first time robot builders that built some pretty impressive machines. I can't wait to see what they build NEXT year. )

They might not have it up today because I believe they are just doing practice rounds. I'm not sure though.
