Re: Funny things to ask for on the PA system

We were having drive practice with our practice robot a few weeks back and had a problem with a moving part sticking. Since we had no lubricants with us, we turned to the remains of the KFC meals we had just eaten, wiped the part with a used chicken leg, and had no more problems. We laughed at the time about potential pit announcements:

"Team 1519 is looking for a KFC #1 meal"

or

"Team 1519 is looking for chicken grease"

We also wondered about adding a KFC #1 meal to our Bill of Materials

Not sure I will ever be able to eat KFC chicken without thinking it can lube a robot.

Word of advice - Never mix work with a consumer product you currently enjoy. It will ruin it for you.

I can't eat relish or drink diet coke.

The cost of lubricants is not included in the total cost of the robot.

Maybe so, but the confused reports you'd get back are worth it anyway

Apparently, there *is* need for unobtanium; this pic is a closeup of one side of the KING TeC (FRC 2169) robot at Curie this year. The mini hadron collider is on the other side.

Thank you soooo much KING TeC...you made my day when I found the fine print that morning.

I have heard the one before. What's even funnier was that someone actually paused to look for one then realized wait, what?!

Re: Funny things to ask for on the PA system

At Championships I'm pretty sure we heard someone ask for "a robot chassis." Now that's a pretty gutsy request. "Would you like a 4WD, 8WD, swerve, or holonomic?" "Whatever will win, please."
