Ziggy the Field Goal Kicking Robot

I ran across this news thread and did a double take. Ziggy has the look of an FRC robot but unlike FRC it is nitro-powered and has 2000psi kicker... Sweet! Looks like a lot of fun, but can it hang from the cross bar?

Ziggy is a 340 pound Battlebot. He has his own highlight video on Youtube.
The one where he pitched Shovelhead into the glass at 1:55 me, Mark Koors and Andy Baker were on the other side of the glass and got an up close and personal view of his lifting power.
It was a very impressive display.

I too recall this robot up close. What a nice piece of engineering.

I still can't get over the fact that when the matches were over that the robots were still live.
I wouldn't go in there with those things if I knew they could suddenly start up and get me.

Did anyone catch Robogames this weekend?

Ziggy is an amazing bot. I distinctly remember standing on the driver platform one year when Ziggy tossed a fully spinning megabyte onto the poly. That was scary

Ironically: combat safety regulations are a lot more lax than FRC.

That's a bot I wouldn't want to find myself in a dark alleyway with.

Wow! I had a fun morning over the weekend watching old Ziggy battles. I ran across one called "Ziggy vs. The Washer", pretty funny (sort of). So I have to ask Ed... as 340 pound Shovelhead was flying towards you, did you flinch? I sure would have.

Anything that is used as a murder weapon in a CSI weapon should be REQUIRED to have a safegaurd placed in it before anyone is allowed to even think about retrieving it from the playing field.

It was startling but more of a "WHOA!" moment than anything. I was more alarmed when I saw Black Knight getting dissected by some robot with blades and it has a gas powered engine and there's sparks flying all over the place and no one seemed to be concerned about the possibility of an explosion. Fred Needel told me they only put 12 ounces of gas in it and it'll only make a little "pop" and it was behind bullet proof glass. Still had me worried.
