Re: College Acceptances
Anyone else going towards Embery-Riddle? (Daytona)
I'll be applying soon, going for Mech.Engineering, and trying to get an AirForce-ROTC Scholarship...hopefully ![]() |

Re: College Acceptances
One of my good friends is going there for aerospace engineering. I had never heard of it before he told me though.

Unless something drastically changes, I'm heading to Carnegie Mellon for mechanical engineering.

Re: College Acceptances
Its between pure electrical engineering (6-1) and EECS (6-2). I'm leaning towards the latter, because I want to do everything

Re: College Acceptances
I'm also MIT 2014.
I've been looking into teams to mentor in the Boston/Cambridge area. 97 seems to be the official MIT team, but I know that 125 and 88 are in that area as well. If anyone has any suggestions, they would be greatly appreciated. |

Re: College Acceptances
I will also be MIT '14! I'm pretty sure I'll be pursuing course 2 (mechanical engineering).

================ I am amazed (but not surprised) at how many FIRST folks end up at MIT. Please, please take it from an old fart like me and get as much education at the finest technical school on the planet, and don't screw up by playing with FIRST (unless you are already getting straight As). Your job is to get educated, and anything less than an A means you need to work at it more. (By the way: Most of you are probably straight A students in high school. College is harder. A "C" at MIT is nothing to be ashamed of.) Good luck Class of 2014, see you in January 2015 at Kickoff. |

Re: College Acceptances
Perhaps one of the best things about college is that FIRST isn't the only technical extracurricular around! It seems that solid technical extracurriculars are a huge plus on the resumes of job seeking undergraduates, so you might as well pick one up.
But FIRST is *far* from the only thing! There's Formula SAE, Formula Hybrid, Design/Build/Fly, Solar Car Racing, AeroDesign, Steel Bridge, Concrete Canoe, MATE ROV, and the list goes on. Do something else for a while, you can always come back to FIRST. If any of you are heading to RPI in the fall and have any questions, I'd be glad to answer them. ![]() Last edited by Ian Curtis : 27-04-2010 at 13:42. |
