Please Help Support: White House Commencement Challenge, Vote By April 29 11:59PM EDT

Dear FIRST Community,

For those of you who don’t know, President Obama issued a commencement challenge to all public schools across the nation. From these thousand, six were chosen to be finalists. From this, the three schools with the highest average ratings relative to the other schools move to the next level. The President will then make the final selection from these 3 schools and will visit that high school later this spring. Please Help our school, Denver School of Science and Technology, win this prestigious honor.

Denver School of Science and Technology is widely considered to be one of the leading open enrollment STEM schools (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) in the nation and has become a destination for educators nationwide. DSST has consistently been the highest performing secondary school in the Denver Public School system and in Colorado, based on growth and absolute performance. DSST Stapleton’s first three graduating classes earned 100% acceptances into four-year colleges. Of DSST’s 2010 graduating class, fifty percent of DSST’s 2010 graduating class is first generation college bound.

Your participation matters! Help show the nation that science and technology matters in this era! At the website, you’ll be asked to rate each school on a scale of 1-5 (5 is the best). Schools will be presented in random order. We (Team 2240) hope that you will vote for our school, DSST, because we are trying to promote science and technology, the main values of FIRST in our community.

Please help DSST win the White House Commencement Challenge by voting here: http://www.whitehouse.gov/commencement. Voting began this morning at 8AM EDT (6AM MDT) and lasts until Thursday, April 29 at 11:59PM EDT. Please vote now! The White House will announce the winner on May 4.

Thanks for Your Support,
Bryan
Team 2240 Captain
