Electrical Connectors

What do your teams use for electrical connectors? We were a rookie team this year and had a lot of trouble with connectors falling apart or being connected incorrectly. We have heard about using the Anderson power connectors for things other than the battery wire - are there smaller ones suitable for 12- or 18-gauge wire?
