Another infamous bridge Issue

I know there is alot of these around this time of year, but I need help.

So after the Mechanical and Electrical team did a tune-up to the robot for the off-season (a process that took 2 meetings (which are spread a week apart this time a year), it was time to give it another run before PARC this weekend. I was called to my usual Duty of resetting the router (I'm the only programmer who knows how to do it - which bothers me since it's not that hard). I went to do the usual process of using the reset button, connecting it, going to the Default and then changing the settings.

However when I went to the usual 192.168.1.250, the settings page didn't come up. After looking in the network setting, I saw the bridge was not reset, still having the security settings and IP from regionals. I tried that IP and nothing came up either. I then tried multiple times to reset the Bridge, but it still won't actually reset.

When I hit the button, the lights flash as they always have for resets, but no change.

So if anyone could help me with my problem I would appreciate it!

FYI - WGA600N is the model I'm using. If this fails we also have the newer one as a backup, but with the delayed startup on that one I would prefer the more reliable WGA600n

Re: Another infamous bridge Issue

Are you using a crossover to connect the bridge to the computer?
Also note, you should not need to completely reset the bridge, just change the security settings

Re: Another infamous bridge Issue

That would be a no on the crossover cable.

And I know you don't have to completely reset, however the chief programmer was trying to get it to work, had no idea what he was doing, and i decided that since he had fooled with it, i would be better of doing it from factory default.

Hitting the "button" does not perform a reset. It puts the bridge in a security mode where it can connect to a suitably configured router without much work on the part of the owner.

To reset the bridge, you must use a thin tool (like a straightened paper clip) to push the hidden switch behind the reset hole, and you must hold the switch active for something like ten or fifteen seconds while the power light goes through its blinking color change dance. It will settle down briefly as if everything is finished, but then it will do some more blinking before it's done. (Some people maintain that you need to be pressing the reset switch while applying power, but that might not be the case for all varieties of the WGA600N firmware.)
