Setting up Router and Bridge from Reset

Hey,
After the regional our robot wasn't able to communicate with the classmate. We didn't find out it was an issue with the WPA on the bridge until after we reset both the router and the bridge to factory defaults. We tried to follow the instructions in Chapter 2 of the Control System documentation but to no avail. We tried following the directions numerous times but often we lose connection to the router after updating the wireless security or changing the IP address. As far as we can tell, we've properly set up the bridge.
My question is: is there anything that should be taken into consideration when setting up both the router and the bridge from factory settings? We've followed the instructions in the manual many times and we can never get any communication to the bridge from the router.

Thanks!

Re: Setting up Router and Bridge from Reset

All of the setup on the bridge HAS to be done before the settings are modified from factory defaults on the router. Once the settings on the bridge are finished (the have to be done in the order in the instructions), the bridge cannot communicate with the router until the router is setup completely.

If you are trying to apply wireless security settings or IP changes to the router, you always need to apply the settings on the bridge first, otherwise once the router updates you can't access the bridge.

Also, while setting up the router, I took an extra step and created a G network of the same name as the N network. This lets me connect the classmate wirelessly, but the bridge was having trouble connecting until I did this.

Also, are you sure the bridge is the problem? Occasionally the DS doesn't properly update its IP and needs to be manually changed.

Re: Setting up Router and Bridge from Reset

Thanks for the information, I realized right away that I would have to configure the bridge first. When I got back to the team's shop after the weekend, all of our components magically started working, but I expect this problem to come again. We've traced the problem to the router not the bridge. Thanks for the tip about the wireless connection from the classmate because I've been trying to figure out how to do that.

Thanks again for all your help
