Re: Favorite part of the FRC season?

I really enjoy the prep and excitement leading up to kickoff. The game clues are a great way to build excitement, just wish they were released a bit earlier. Waiting until Christmas to get the first clue was tough this year.

I also like all the training and prep that goes on before kickoff.

Re: Favorite part of the FRC season?

I like pretty much every portion of the FIRST season, but if I had to choose, I would probably pick regionals or championships. I voted regionals because whilst its awesome meeting everyone at championships, it is pretty crowded; sometimes too much for my taste. =/

Re: Favorite part of the FRC season?

The afternoon after kickoff.

So much to digest. So many thoughts going through your head. Opening the kit (and inevitably sending people to scour local stores for every game piece they can get their hands on).

It's like Christmas, but better.

Re: Favorite part of the FRC season?

Event alliance selection and eliminations.

I'm a strategy guy, so this is where it gets real. You get an hour to throw together a general game plan and then an approach to the quarterfinals, which is never enough time (meals are skipped here!). Then you go out and do it, and for some reason the hours you wait in the stands between matches gives you barely enough time to try anything new between rounds. The chemistry of the alliance you form is tested thoroughly. Pretty cool...

Re: Favorite part of the FRC season?

Right after kickoff when you start planning your robot is the best part. Right then and there you have to start determining the direction of your robot and get the design going. Then again I love to design things.

Re: Favorite part of the FRC season?

Pretty much anytime during build season and then, of course, the regional competitions. It was really awesome getting to meet new people, cheering for our robot, dancing at the social, and collecting buttons!!!! I can't wait till next year. GO FIRST!!

Re: Favorite part of the FRC season?

My favorite part of the competition is strategy, so I love the time spent at regionals scouting other teams, working through potential strategies, playing matches, pairing up with alliance partners, and then working through the elimination rounds. It's always exciting. Of course, trying to work out the best strategies early on in the season and working robot design around these thoughts, and pre-competition scouting are also really fun.

I love scouting! Mostly because you can meet other awesome people and get to (if you are lucky) touch their robot! And it is rather enjoyable to me to discuss strategies of different teams' robots.

Oh and you cannot forget that scouting gives you wonderful oportunities to collect buttons

Re: Favorite part of the FRC season?

Build season is my favorite, I think that is when you really get to know everyone on your team. I mean bonding over pizza, AMPM food, late nights and that's what she said jokes is pretty enjoyable right? xD But, the regional competitions are a close second.

Re: Favorite part of the FRC season?

The first week after kickoff is my favorite part. It is the most challenging and requires the greatest creativity. Its where the season is made or lost. Its also the most draining.

The regionals are the most fun. They really are a celebration of the work you do during build.

Actually, the whole season is great.

Kickoff day is probably my favorite part and this is why:

Dec 25: Christmas
Jan 5:My Birthday
Jan 7:Kickoff

I basically get 3 Christmases.

Re: Favorite part of the FRC season?

I voted kickoff.

My favorite part is the strategy. The kickoff is when you get the new game and figure out a new strategy and figure out how you want to play.

I love the competitions too, but they're a little more stressful than the day of kickoff for me. I've never attended the championships, but if I ever did I'm sure it would be my favorite part.
