Smile Yet another reason to make the Switch...

For all of us out there without a frontal lobatomy, Apple has realeased three new switch ads. One of the few include this guy called Tony Hawk, whoever he is... If the rumors are true, expect more celeb switches soon.

I admit that I enjoyed my days with my mac in college, but boy did I get razzed about it by the guys that worked with my former spouse at Novell. They would call it "Nintendo" because they thought it was too easy.
I have come to like both. They each do well in their place for the purposes they are used for. Choosing between one or the other would be like choosing between children.

what is this world coming to?!??!

at IUPUI (the university i am attending) we prolly have 250 + computers in our library. mac's make up about 50 of them, the rest of them are Dell P3's and P4's. The point of this is that I think it's hillarious when there are lots of spaces open for mac's and there are lines of people trying to get onto a PC. Maybe this means something....

If you can run linux on it, it's good in my book...

There's quite a vulgar video that I know of which is a parody of one of the Apple Switch commercials. Be warned, it contains some language many might consider not-so-nice... IM me somehow for the link, I'll not post the link on these boards...

It does what you need it to do when you need it and without the massive resources needed to run NT, without the crashes. So I'm going to have to disagree with you here.

Imac, should be renamed to the Icrap.

The mac wil never reach the status that the commonplace PC has achieved...*shudders*

Heh. I don't get it. Why does everyone seem to complain about Windows then when someone mentions an alternative, all you hear is "eww." I hear it just about every day in my school...

"Windows sucks"
"Yeah, so try something different"
"Like what?"
"Linux, mac, there are more..."
"What's lye-nicks? Mac's are dumb. *hits head repeatedly* I HATE WINDERS I HATE WINDERS"

So maybe I exaggerated a bit on the last part...but STILL!

So much hypocrisy...

I think it's impossible to persuade a Windows-hater away from Windows. I've shown them some awesome linux/mac screenies...they say "coooool" but when pushed to switch, they say "no" Anymore, there isn't _that_ much of a learning curve to Linux...

I guess I can understand not switching to Apple...due to the expensive hardware, but Linux is a fricking free alternative!

At our school we refer to them as Mac'n'trash...

Stupid pieces of garbage...

The Emacs and G4's look cool though and run alright but i hate using them for advertisement design for the yearbook and newspaper

Wanna know why they say there an alternative but people keep slaming them? Becuase the PC users do. They don't user Macs, now do they? Nope.

Have a nice day PeeeCeee users...

sure, we make up 5%, but @!#@!#@!#@!#, that's the smartest 5% out there.

I really don't understand these hardcore Geeky Windows People. It seems to me that they can't get in their mind that there is more than Microsoft in the world.
To me, Microsoft has never had an innovative idea in their entire corporate history. All of their products are a knock off of something else, they do not conform to standards, and I really don't like how they use their dominating power.

There was actually one joke about this situation:

"Geeks, don't like Macs, because it so simple that consumers will not need them for repairs and set-up" Or it was something like that:

To all of your Mac Haters, why do you hate Macs? I never heard a single good reason that PCs are better than Macs. So answer that question.

So what if something is different? if you haven't use it, don't diss it.

For example, David Coutsey, from ZDNET was once a Mac Basher, and called mac loayist, fanatics. Now when he tries his iMac, he said that it is the best hardware and OS he as ever used.

Oh by the way, Macs can run linux. Linux for PPC has been out for some time now, and that is what IBM uses in their Power 4 design. The most popular I know of is Yellow Dog Linux, but that may change, because Red Hat said that it was making a PPC version of Linux.

About the Price. Yes I do admit that Macs are a little more expensive than PC's. But I assure it is worth every penny. You get all of the iApps for free, the OS X system, and a bunch of other free stuff. Which could add up to hundreds more if you wanted to buy third party software. So you have to look at the whole picture, and not just the typical sterotypes.

I use windows simply b/c I'm too lazy to load anything else on this computer or even buy a Mac...
I've used Mac's before and I'm comfortable with them but they just aren't that common anymore...I grew up on an Apple actually...

As for Linux...I've used it once a while ago...but I haven't been exposed personally to that OS too much (I know Joe and Jim use it that its with people I know that use it....)

i've tried to learn some linux, and i've gotten pretty far (for me). i actually installed a couple of distros, settled (for now at least) on debian, got xwindows to work, got a bunch of programs i would use (web browsers and the such), and most importantly SAMBA. so now i have a pentium pro 200 Mhz computer running debian, with a 120 gig HD acting as a second file server on my home LAN. (yes, i did say second. the first one got full. 40 gigs just wasn't enough ). after i got that set up i kinda left it. it's been on almost non stop for a while now. never crashes, just keeps on going. my windows server (the first file sharing server) needs a reboot at least once a month, usually closer to once every week or two.

if i get some free time i'm going to dig up an old hard drive, or delete some stuff on my windows one, and install linux on my "play" computer. i want to see how it works on a slightly better computer .
