Announcing the 2010 IRI Scholarships

For 2010, we will be awarding a total of 6 $1500 Scholarships.
There will be 5 Technical / Open Scholarships and 1 Teaching Focused Scholarship.

The sponsoring companies / organizations will read the applications and make their award decisions. It is very important that you follow the guidelines below and be sure you have included all of the requested information.

The sponsoring companies for the Technical / Open scholarships will determine if they are focusing only on a technical / engineering career or if they will allow any field of study.

Requirements / Actions
Student must submit answers to a short question set (below) and answer an essay question.
Student must obtain letters of recommendation from 2 adults, preferably 1 FIRST related and 1 not FIRST related.
Student and their team must be attending the 2010 IRI.
Please be sure that you and your references use the same name on the letters! (i.e. don't mix given name and nicknames).

DEADLINE:
Applications must be received by Friday, June 25th.

Please either pdf or use a version of MS Word for your submittals so that all reviewers can open and read the documents.

You won't regret it. You could possibly get free money and a cool trophy. Did you know no one applied for the Beatty scholarship last year? I spent a lot of time kicking myself for that one.

This scholarship opportunity is available for this past year's (2010) high school graduating seniors.

Everyone --

We had a great response to the scholarships and many, many excellent applicants. The selection committee had a hard time getting to just 5 students.

The company representatives disscussed this, and here is what they decided -

The IRI added another $1500 to the scholarship fund. This brings the total for the Technical / Open scholarships to $9000.

The group selected 9 students, and will award each of them a $1000 scholarship.

The Marcia Beatty Teaching Scholarship is not changed, and will be $1500.

We are excited to see who has been selected on Saturday morning during the awards.
